We are all familiar with the word "resume", but are you familiar with the term curriculum vitae?

Curriculum vitae is Latin meaning "course of life".

Around the world, resume and curriculum vitae (CV) are sometimes used interchangeably. Although, CV's often contain more information and detail than a typical resume.

I like to think of a CV as a resume on steroids.

A new, and totally free online service is available that allows you to create your own CV-- VisualCV.com.

Why should landscape architects consider using a visualCV?

I think this service can be a terrific complement, not a replacement, to the traditional resume. You may not want to use your visualCV as a "stand alone" resume however. Many companies still require a hard copy resume.

A visualCV can also be used for much more than just a resume.

• Create a professional profile or bio of yourself that you share with potential clients.


• Use your visualCV as a replacement or spring-board to an actual website.


• Add your visualCV to social networking websites so your peers can learn more about you.

VisualCV allows landscape architects greater creative freedom in how they present themselves to potential employers and peers. You can add video, audio, images, links and pdf files to your visualCV.

There is also an option to view the visualCV as a pdf. This is a great feature because not everyone will want to view your visualCV online.
